I have been in the entertainment business all my life. I started out as a child actor and model.
Later on my interest diversified and I got into music. I started playing the guitar when I was 13
years old. Then I moved on to playing the electric bass. In my
late teens and early 20's music was a big part of my life and
acting was my job. But, acting was not the best career choice.
Although I was good and got a lot of good feedback, you can't
make it as an actor without being in the right place at the right
time. A lot of good connections helps as well. So, in turn, I
turned to photography. Photography is another of my great
passions. I got into photography when I was 15. It all evolved
when I got a part time job at a photo shop. For Christmas, that
year, my boss gave me an old twin reflex and a processing starter
kit. Things just took off from there. I built my own dark room and
started learning all I could about cameras, films, processing,
lighting and composition. It came real easy for me. So, I started
putting it out that I was a headshot photographer. Pretty soon
that worked into doing portraits and weddings.
Of course this just wasn't enough for me. I wanted to be where
the real action was. I wanted to work in movies and television.
So, I asked a friend of mine, who had a production company, to
give me a job. Anything! I'll be a gopher! Since I was house sitting and baby sitting for him from
time to time, he hired me full time as long as part of my job would be house sitting and baby
sitting when needed.
Believe it or not, this was the start of my editing career.
When I was at the office and had nothing to do, I would hang out with the editors. I found it
fascinating how they would tell a story by putting together all of these different pieces of film.
So, I started helping out.
Later on, the sound engineer that did all of the sound transfers for the editors had to leave for a
while. I was then trained to do his job. When he came back, so did the editors of a new project.
Since I was still considered a gopher, I was still picking people up at the airport. One of which
was an editor that I new and while driving him home, we talked. Lo and Behold, I became his
assistant. That was the start of my editing career.
But, I still wasn't satisfied. I still had a camera in one hand and a guitar in the other and missed
my hometown, Paris.
Editing film and television can be quite time consuming. So, I have consolidated my music and
photography passions, by getting involved with bands and actors that need coaching and photos.
As far as missing Paris, I try to get back there at least once a year and it's hard to take a bad
photo in Europe.
